Father of soldiers takes exception to editorial
To the editor:
Most of what Susan Berg wrote in “Remembering 9/11” column last week should be appreciated by almost everyone.
However, I winced when she wrote, “Since Sept. 11, 2001, this country has focused on war and getting even.”
Americans do not leave home and family to serve in our armed forces to “get even.”
They do it to prevent a repeat of the barbarism and heartache and grief that hit so many people on Sept. 11, 2001.
(Editor’s note: I appreciated Mr. Siebert’s comments. The editorial in no shape or form was meant to be a criticism of the military. It was a criticism of the political side of war.)
