Leona Manhart

A graveside service for Leona P. Manhart, 95, of Hillsboro, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis Cemetery in Ramona. She passed away Aug. 18, 2020, in Hillsboro.

Leona’s life began Oct. 12, 1924, in Lost Springs. She was the daughter of Henry and Pauline (Deines) Albright.

Leona was a 1942 graduate of Herington High School. She worked as a switchboard operator as a young lady and later went to work in the IGA Grocery for many years. Leona was a dedicated and hard-working mother for her children Jeanne and Jim. Leona was a parishioner at Holy Family Parish-St. Mark in Marion and had been active in St. Mark’s Quilters.

Her loving family includes her children Jeanne (and husband, Lyle) Gillett of Marion and James (and wife, Nanette) Manhart of Weaverville, North Carolina; grandchildren Kirk Gillett of Springdale, Arkansas, Kyle (and wife, Andi) Gillett of Winfield and Kristy (and husband, Jeremy) Mohn of Olathe; great-grandchildren Avery and Rylan Mohn; and siblings Gallard (and wife, Regina) Albright of Wichita, Glenn (and wife, Waleah) Albright of Wichita, Edith Warneke of Marion, and Mary Lee Peckenschneider of Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Harold Albright, Edward Albright, and Edgar Albright.

Her graveside service will be led by Fr. Brian Bebak of Holy Family Parish. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.

Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Holy Family Parish or American Diabetes Association.
