Peabody American Legion Auxiliary members will serve chili and dessert in the north part of the Legion Hall noon Saturday to celebrate Veterans Day.

After the meal, Wichita attorney Carl Maughan will present a program.

Maughan was raised in the South African country now known as Zimbabwe. After graduating from high school in South Africa, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994 from Wichita State University with a double major in political science and philosophy.

Maughan earned a Juris Doctorate in May 1977 from the University of Akron in Ohio. After being admitted to the Kansas bar, he worked with criminal defense lawyer Dan Monnat.

In 2002, Maughan started his law firm and worked as a sole practitioner until September 2004, when he and his wife Faith established the law firm, Maughan and Maughan, LC. Faith Maughan is a former Peabody resident and a 1989 graduate of Peabody High School.
