LaVada D. Hass

LaVada D. Hass, 85, died Sept. 26 at Shabbona Health Care Center, Shabbona, Ill.

She was born Jan. 16, 1926 in Herington, the daughter of Fredrick W. and Ida (Utech) Lietz. She worked as an office manager for a doctor in Wheaton.

Hass was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wheaton.

She is survived by two sons, Mel Hass of Shabbona, Mark Hass of San Diego, Calif., and one daughter, Janet Hudson of North Conway, N.H.; and three grandchildren.

Her husband, Melvin K. Hass; two brothers, Arthur Lietz and Fredrick P. Lietz; a sister, Eileen Dean; and her parents preceded her in death.

A memorial service was held Saturday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Herington and inurnment took place at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

The family requests memorials be sent to Shabbona Health Care Center Alzheimer’s Unit, in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Herington.
