Lady Warriors win 2 at Solomon

The Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team put two wins in the victory column Sept. 27 at Solomon. The squad defeated Solomon, 25-27, 25-11, and 25-14, and Elyria, 25-20 and 25-21.

Solomon

The Lady Warriors had a slow start in game one. Down 3-8 early, Tori Schroeder, Kaycy Gonzalez, and Paige Lewis combined for kills and the PBHS squad trailed, 8-12. Brandee Burnett served an ace, and Sarah Hofkamp scored on a tip set making the gap two, 11-13. A Hofkamp kill tied the game at 17, but Solomon came back to regain the lead and take the win. PBHS lost 25-27.

Rayna Barnes tied game two at 3 with an ace. The Lady Warriors then steadily built a lead with points from Lewis, Gonzalez, and Schroeder. PBHS won, 25-11.

Game three was all Lady Warriors as Barnes, Gonzalez, Schroeder, and Lewis scored points to get the PBHS squad to a 9-1 lead. Down the stretch, McKenzie Ensminger served two aces. Barnes ended game three with a kill, 25-14.

Elyria

Schroeder put the Lady Warriors on the board first with a tip set. Barnes scored an ace and a kill, and Lewis added a kill. Schroeder served two aces, and PBHS continued to build on a steady lead to take game one, 25-20.

PBHS played from behind early in game two. A tip by Burnett tied the game 12-12 and a Barnes kill provided the go ahead point. Hofkamp, Lewis, and Gonzalez each scored points in the game two win, 25-21.
