The Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team traveled Sept. 30 to Berean for two matches.
PBHS lost to Goessel 25-21, 25-22, but came back to beat Berean 19-25, 25-22, 25-12.
The next two contests include a home match and a trip to Remington.
A kill by Danielle Savage and an ace by Felecia Pohlman got the Lady Warriors off to a good start in game one against Goessel.
Michaela Methvin recorded a kill and PBHS was up one, 9-8.
Bluebird serving and several Lady Warriors’ errors gave Goessel a 21-12 lead.
PBHS climbed back into the match with kills from Savage and Julie Wedel, and a block by Embry Hodges.
Good serves from Clarrissa Terronez and aces from Wedel pulled PBHS within three, but Goessel eventually took game point.
Game two featured kills by Pohlman, Savage, Methvin, and Wedel, and aces by Pohlman and Terronez.
The game was even at 17, but the Bluebirds took a slight edge going into the stretch.
PBHS lost game two by three points.
Berean took a big lead in game one against PBHS, 17-8. The Lady Warriors mounted a rally that included an ace by Pohlman and a Savage kill, as well as a block, and they closed the gap to 18-16.
The Lady Warriors came within five but PBHS eventually lost by six.
Game two was even at eight when the Lady Warriors turned up the heat with kills by Savage, Hodges, and Wedel.
Terronez added an ace and the Lady Warrior lead was three, 21-18.
Wedel had two kills in the last four points and PBHS took the game 25-22.
PBHS jumped out to a big lead in game three aided early by aces from Kaitlyn Preheim.
Methvin and Hodges each had kills and the Lady Warriors cruised to a game-three victory 25-12 and PBHS won the match.
Bayleigh Clark led the return game with 31 sets for the night.
Savage had 20 kills and Wedel recorded 13.
