Lady Warriors split first games after break

The Peabody-Burns girls’ basketball team began the second semester Tuesday with a 51-18 loss at Centre.

The team came back Friday to earn a 40-32 victory over Flinthills High School. Up next for the Warriors is a home matchup with White City and a Friday game at Wakefield.

Centre

The Lady Warrior offense struggled in the first half, only scoring eight points while allowing 29. Christa Elliott and Katy Benson each scored four points.

Brianna Larsen, Jordan Gibson, and Benson each scored two points in the third quarter. Centre added 15, leading 44-14 at the end of the third quarter.

Benson had all four PBHS points in the final period. The Lady Cougars put in seven. PBHS lost 51-18.

Flinthills

The Lady Warriors started well Friday against Flinthills. Rylie McDowell and Gibson combined for eight points and Christa Elliott added two. PBHS led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter.

PBHS held the Mustangs to four points in the second quarter, while scoring 10 more. Larsen paced the team with six points. Alanis Bishop and Benson each added two. PBHS led 20-13 at halftime.

Both teams scored six in the third quarter. McDowell led the Warriors with four and Benson added a 2-point basket. The Lady Warriors led 26-19 at the end of three.

PBHS scored 14 in the fourth quarter. Flinthills scored 13. Benson and Larsen each added five, and McDowell and Elliott each added a basket. The Lady Warriors won 40-32.
