Lady Warriors lose at home

The Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warriors lost, 55-45, Dec. 16 to Burrton at home.

The team will take on Wichita Home School next and then break for the holidays.

Julie Wedel put the Lady Warriors on the board first with a field goal. Burrton then tied the game with a basket.

Danielle Savage put in a PBHS basket with an assist from Wedel.

Burrton then scored four unanswered points and the Lady Warriors were down 8-4.

Bayleigh Clark ended the first quarter scoring with a three-point basket to close the gap to, 8-7, at the end of the first period.

PBHS stayed with Burrton in the second quarter.

Clark had three baskets in the period. Wedel had two and Traylee Woodruff pulled the team to within one with a three-pointer with 12 seconds left in the half.

Burrton answered with a three of its own before halftime and the Lady Warriors were behind by four at the half.

Early in the second half, five points by Savage gave the PBHS squad the lead, 23-22.

Burrton came back to take the lead in the third and remained in front for the rest of the period.

Wedel, Michaela Methvin, and Felecia Pohlman each added a basket and the Lady Warriors trailed Burrton 37-29.

Even though the fourth quarter was the best scoring quarter for the PBHS squad with 16, Burrton found the basket for 18 points.

Pohlman led the quarter with five points.

Savage and Woodruff each added four.

Clark added two free throws and Stephanie Rempel added one in the loss.

Clark and Savage led the offense with 11 points each. Savage had 13 rebounds and Rempel and Woodruff each had eight.
