Lady Warriors get a victory for the holidays

An early Christmas present arrived for the Peabody-Burns High School Lady Warriors in the form of a win Dec. 21. The team got their first victory of the season against Wichita Home School, 33-24. They will take time off then they will again commence regular season play Tuesday at Remington.
First quarter offense was slow with the Lady Warriors only scoring six points, but PBHS defense held the opponent to only a basket. Danielle Savage scored four and Traylee woodruff had two free throws.
Wichita Home School came back and made the first four points of the second quarter to tie the score at 6-6. Woodruff added a basket with 45 seconds left in the period. Wichita Home School made the last basket of the half and the game was even at 8-8.
Savage opened the third quarter with a two-point basket and Woodruff followed with a two. Savage added another two-point score before Wichita Home School got on the board in the quarter. PBHS offense went on a six-point run with baskets by Michaela Methvin, Savage, and Woodruff. Wichita Home School added one more basket to make the score 20-12, but Julie Wedel increased the PBHS lead to give the Lady Warriors a 10-point edge, 22-12, at the end of the third period.
Wichita Home School offense outscored the PBHS Lady Warriors 12-11 in the fourth, but five points from the free throw line pushed the PBHS squad to their first victory of the season, 33-24. Savage led the quarter scoring with five. Wedel had three points, Noble had two, and Woodruff had one point. Individual points for the game were. Savage 15, Woodruff 9, Methvin 4, Wedel 3, and Noble 2.
