Peabody-Burns High School volleyball competed Oct. 12 and wrapped up the regular season schedule with two matches at home.
They were defeated by Remington, 15-25 and 17-25, and they also lost to Berean Academy, 23-25 and 20-25.
Remington
PBHS led early, 3-1, but Remington came back and PBHS trailed, 6-9. Paige Lewis had a kill to take the score to 7-9. A Sarah Hofkamp and Embry Hodges block got the team to within one, 8-9, but Remington pulled away for the win. The Lady Warriors lost game one, 15-25.
PBHS trailed early in game two and could not recover. Michaela Methvin and Hodges each had tip sets in the game, Hofkamp earned two aces, and Tori Schroeder and Hodges teamed up for a block. PBHS lost, 17-25.
Hodges led the team with five kills and three blocks. Rayna Barnes, Methvin, Lewis, and Hofkamp had one kill each. Hofkamp had nine digs, Methvin had five, and Schroeder recorded four.
Berean Academy
The Lady Warriors trailed, 2-11, early in game one. PBHS offense from Methvin, Hofkamp, Barnes, Lewis, and Hodges led a rally that brought PBHS to within two, 12-14. PBHS continued to build on their points and Hodges took the team to within one, 23-24. Unfortunately, Berean scored the last two points of game one. PBHS lost, 23-25.
PBHS was in control in game two and led, 11-8. Berean came back to within two but a Hodges block kept the Lady Warriors in front, 12-11. Berean then went on a run and despite points from Methvin, Barnes, and Hodges, the PBHS squad lost game two, 20-25.
Methvin had five kills in the match and Hodges and Lewis had two each. Barnes and Hofkamp each recorded one. Hofkamp had six assists and Schroeder had two.
