Kiwanis Club fetes honor students
Staff writer
People who attended Monday’s Kiwanis Honor banquet for high school students were entertained by forensics presentations from both students and audience members.
In one skit, a movie was being “filmed” with a plotline of someone tasting a cookie at a friend’s house and immediately falling dead on the floor from poisoning.
When participants were called from the audience to perform, superintendent Aaron Homburg portrayed the cook. After his guest sampled a cookie and fell to the floor, Homburg slowly stepped to a nearby phone. The audience roared with laughter when Homburg told the dispatcher, “He’s fallen and he can’t get up.”
Guests packed the high school lunchroom for the banquet, which 150 people attended and 45 students, from freshmen to seniors, were recognized.
