Kindergartner dies of injuries; fund drives set

Staff writers

A 5-year-old Marion girl died Saturday after being severely injured in a crash March 6 two miles west of town.

Harper Rosella Louise Bryant, a kindergartner at Marion Elementary School, was airlifted from the crash, as was her older sister, Emmaria.

The rollover happened at 190th and Quail Creek Rds., apparently when a car driven by their brother, Landon, a high school freshman, struck a culvert at the intersection.

Harper was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center more than an hour after the initial call.

Her parents are Matthew and Stephanie Bryant. Her siblings also include Jordan Brewer of Newton.

Services for Harper will be 10 a.m. Friday at Emmanual Baptist Church in Marion.

A memorial fund has been established with USD 408 Foundation.

Fundraising campaigns also have been established to help the family pay expenses from the accident.

Tax-deductible contributions made out to Aulne Outreach Ministries Corp. are being accepted at Tampa State Bank in Marion.

Donations also can be made online by going to aulnechurch.com, clicking on the “online giving” button, and selecting the Aulne Outreach Ministries Corp. page.

Scott and Laurie Miesse also are conducting a meat raffle to raise money. Two quarters of beef and two halves of pork are being offered. Tickets are $10 or six for $50. Additional donations will be accepted.

The names of four winners will be drawn April 15, with first drawn having the first choice of meat.

Tickets are available at numerous Marion businesses, Marion VFW, Marion City Library, Town and Country Café in Florence, and Midway Motors in Hillsboro.

An online fundraiser also can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/lets-show-the-bryant-family-our-love-and-support.
