The Peabody-Burns Junior Warriors were defeated at Solomon, 66-36. The team has two weeks to prepare for a road game at Goessel on Sept. 13.
Just seconds into the contest, the Junior Warriors’ cover team failed to stop the kickoff return. Solomon scored first to take the early 6-0 lead.
PBJHS answered with a scoring drive. Austin Reynolds connected with Jayton Scott for a 28 yard pass score. At 7:18 the teams were tied at 6.
Solomon then scored three times before PBJHS got on the board early in the second quarter. Reynolds hooked up with Chance Elliott for six and then Derik Newman for the conversion two. The Junior Warrior trailed, 34-14.
Solomon added one more score in the first half. At the break, the gap was 40-14.
Solomon got two quick scores in the early minutes of the third before Reynolds hit Austin Purk with a 51-yard pass. The duo also teamed up for the conversion. PBJH trailed 52-22.
After the return of the junior Warrior kickoff added a score for Solomon, PBJHS offense added another six. Reynolds connected with Elliott for the touchdown. The score was 60-28 with 2:06 left in the third.
With 19 seconds left in the third, Solomon added one more score.
A fourth quarter pass from Bryant Young to Elliott capped off the passing-game scoring for the contest. Young added the two-point conversion with a run. PBJHS lost to Solomon, 66-36.
