Judy Pendergraft
A celebration of life for Judy Jo Pendergraft, 78, who passed away Dec. 28, 2025, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at Good News Christian Fellowship, Marion. Inurnment will follow at Marion Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 19, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Arlo and Loretta (Heinmiller) Evers.
She graduated from Wichita North High School in 1965 and attended Wichita State University.
In 1968, she began her career at Beechcraft, starting as a secretary in the orders department and later becoming a marketing manager in the delivery center. She stayed with Beechcraft until her retirement in 2007.
On October 30, 1971, she was united in marriage to Gordon Pendergraft. Their blended family included four children.
They made their home in Wichita. In 1982, she and Gordon purchased a weekend cabin at the Marion County Lake. They would later buy, renovate, and move to their current home permanently. Judy loved this house and the lake.
She was active in Beechcraft Flying Club and in Friends of Marion County Lake, serving as treasurer for both organizations.
She was a pilot, holding private and commercial licensure. She enjoyed boating, fishing, water-skiing, camping, crafting, cooking, and flying. She traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roger Evers; and a grandson.
She is lovingly survived by husband Gordon Pendergraft of Marion; children Robin Dicks (and husband John) of Marion; Michael Pendergraft of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Kristen Kruse of Valley Center; and Stacy Shelton of Wichita; sisters Betty Miller (and husband Danny) of Wichita and Jane Laetari (and husband Val) of Garfield, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established for Marion County Park and Lake in care of Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
