Joyce Carlson

Joyce Leland Carlson, 89, a lifelong resident of the Burdick and Lincolnville area, died Monday at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

He was born Oct. 14, 1923, southwest of Burdick to Oscar P. and Anna Marie (Anderson) Carlson.

He was a farmer and stockman all his life and a member of Burdick Methodist Church. He was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association for 50 years and served as a committee member. He also was a director of the Marion County Livestock Association. He was a school board member for three terms and served on the Tri-County Telephone board for 15 years.

He married Ruth Ann Meierhoff on Aug. 18, 1946. She survives at Parkside Homes. He also is survived by three sons, Ronnie, Duane, and Marcus, all of the Burdick and Lincolnville area; a daughter, Judy Ingalsbe of Valley Center, and 11 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Burdick Methodist Church with Jay J. Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Burdick Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

A memorial has been established with Burdick Methodist Church.
