John T. Sanchez
John T. Sanchez, 85, retired aerospace engineering planner and real estate broker, passed away March 22, 2009.
John was born March 28, 1923, in Peabody, to Jose and Manuela Sanchez.
He graduated from Peabody High School and entered Southwestern College in Winfield. John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon his discharge from the service, he continued his education at Kansas State University. There he completed his undergraduate work and earned a master of science in psychology. He also completed doctoral work at Columbia University in New York.
He then entered the aerospace industry. John retired from Lockheed Aircraft at Sunnyvale, Calif. Always active, John served as president of the Kansas State University Graduate Student Association; VFW, battalion adjutant; and Delphi, critic.
As a high school student, John was a junior Kiwanian and earned letters in football, basketball, and tennis. John had many varied interests. He traveled the world and was an avid reader and sports fan, photographer, writer, and life-long student.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucita and Camilla; and three brothers, Peter, Frank, and Robert.
Survivors include a sister, Mary; a brother, D.T.; and nieces and nephews.
Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody.
