Jim Davis

James W. “Jim” Davis, 72, owner of Jim Davis A/C of Marion, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020.

Jim was born Sept. 14, 1947, to William Edsel Davis and Mary Elizabeth Transue Davis in Smith Center, Kansas. Jim graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1965 and completed technical school with two certifications in engineering and HVAC.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a radio writer operator.

On May 17, 1969, Jim married Jannette Penner in Olathe, Kansas. After some time, Jim settled in Marion, Kansas, and proceeded to build his family.

Jim was a life member of the local VFW and served as commander the last few years. He also served 42 years with Marion Fire Department, where he ended his career there as assistant fire chief.

Jim had a private pilot license and loved to fly in his Cherokee plane and his ultra-light around Marion County, and many times beyond.

His loving family includes his wife, Jannette “Jan” Davis of the home; his mother, Mary Davis of Bashor, Kansas; sons William H. Davis of Aurora, Colorado, and James Davis (and wife, Betsy Davis) of Halstead, Kansas; daughters Michele Seadeek of Marion, Jamie Davis (and husband, Brian Penning) of Defiance, Missouri, and Jessica Euwer (and husband, Derek Euwer) of Burrton, Kansas; and nine grandchildren.

His father, William E. Davis, preceded him in death.

Services were Tuesday at the Davis homestead.
