James “Jim” David Orpin, 65, of Denton, Texas, died Jan. 21, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Born March 18, 1945, in Fresno Calif., to David and Ethel Orpin, he grew up in Newton.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Mathias, on Sept. 24, 1968. They moved to Ponca City, Okla., and then to Texas in 1992.
He was a computer programmer and mainframe expert.
His brother, John, and his father, David, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Ethel Orpin of Jacksonville, Ore.; sister Kate Cook of Haysville; wife Ruth of Denton; daughters Marcie Conrad of Justin, Texas, Lori Goad of Denton, and Lacy Fenn of Flower Mound, Texas; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was Tuesday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton.
Memorial and graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Peabody Christian Church.
