Robert Grosse

Robert Grosse, age 60, passed peacefully April 27, 2019.

Born in Strong City, Kansas, to Harvey R. Grosse and Rose Spangler Grosse, Bob was raised in Peabody where he attended school.

On April 2, 1980, he wed Laura Taylor and through this marriage had a daughter, Dawn Merie Grosse.

He later moved to Florence, Kansas, and married his second wife Verna. Verna had two daughters he raised as his own, Catrina and Nicole Swope.

Bob retired a few years ago from a long career as head of maintenance for Cloudridge Apartments in Andover, Kansas.

He was a recovered alcoholic since 1994. He loved his AA family and helping other addicts with their recovery. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He has spent the last year enjoying life living with his daughter Dawn, Doug and grandson, Lucas.

He spent his Saturdays at the racetrack every chance he could. He loved working on his truck and spending time with his family.

Survivors include daughters Dawn Setzer and husband, Doug Moore of Wichita, Catrina Zielinski and husband, Mike of Burns, and Nicole Krueger, and husband, William of Burden; brothers Harvey Grosse of Peabody and Ray Grosse of Newton; sister Peggy Penner of North Newton; grandchildren Lucas LaFever, Haylee, Cera, Jacquelin, Lilleigh, and Willow Krueger, Magenta Bell, Leroy Zielinski and Channing and Anna Setzer; and former wives and lifetime friends Laura Howell and Verna Grosse.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father and best friend Tony, sister Tammy Britton, and nephew Gabriel Demmitt.

Services will be 11 a.m. June 8, 2019, at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody. Graveside service to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence. Memorials may be made to Atishwin Institute for recovering alcoholics, 937 S. Bluffview Dr., Wichita, KS 67218.
