Rick Turner

Rick Craig Turner, 68, Gridley, died Jan. 3, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Rick was born on April 18, 1952, in Horton, to Ted and Zohna Wagoner Turner.

On Jan. 22, 1972, he married Vickie Jayne Birk in Gridley.

He did various jobs in his life, working for I.B.P., in the oil fields, and as a meat cutter for Dillon’s. He owned and operated grocery stores in Buhler, Florence, Marion, and Peabody until his retirement.

He was a member of the Gridley United Methodist Church and several Beekeepers Clubs.

He is survived by his wife ,Vickie, of the home; his mother, of Ozark, Arkansas; daughters Kristal (and husband Larry) Timm, Morton, Illinois, and Kirstan (and husband Matt) Turner Fredrick, Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jayne and Josiah Timm; two brothers, Danial and Andy Turner; sister Veena Ziegenbalg; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Teddy C. Turner, and brother Teddy M. Turner.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. No formal services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Gridley United Methodist Church may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
