Nathen Bailey

Graveside services for former Ramona resident Nathen A. Bailey, who passed away Monday at Memorial Hospital in Abilene, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis Cemetery, near Ramona.

Born Feb. 13, 1927, in Chanute, the son of James and Anna (Lee) Bailey, he attended local schools until serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Oct. 17, 1953, he was united in marriage to Estelle Virleen Barrett in Florence. She passed away June 26, 1993.

He was a farmer first and a law enforcement officer, and for 20 years was a heavy equipment operator for Marion County.

He was a life member of the VFW in Tampa and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include daughters Kathleen Ann Bailey of Wichita and Mary Margaret Bailey-Metz of Ramona, sons Kevin Bailey of Abilene and Brendon Bailey of Ramona, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Sons Collin, Sean, and Damian Bailey; two brothers; three sisters; and his parents preceded him in death.

Friends may sign the register book at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home until 5 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established with Tampa VFW. Donations may be sent in care of the funeral home, 414 NW 3rd St, Abilene, KS 67410. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.martinbeckercarlson.com.
