Murray Walker

Services were May 21 for Murray Allen Walker, 89, Peabody.

He transitioned to his heavenly home on May 16 to join his wife Charlotte Walker and son Patrick Walker.

He was a Korean War veteran, a lover of music, and always enjoyed a good joke. His warm smile and colorful stories were treasured by all.

He is survived by his companion Ruth Lott; sister Frances Parendo; daughter Susan Walker; sons Randy Walker and Darren Walker; four grandchildren, Krystal Walker, Kyle Smith, Caitlin Smith, and Skyler Walker; and three great-grandchildren Tyler Walker, Easton Smith, and Everly Smith.

Veronica attended Goddard schools and then went to work at Boeing in Wichita, where she met her husband, Dale.

They married Feb. 28, 1981.

They made their home and life in Peabody, and they loved having family and friends over for gatherings and good food.

Veronica loved animals and took in every stray that showed up on her step. She enjoyed shopping and sharing her treasures, and she was always finding new ways to help people in whatever capacity she could. She lives on in our hearts and minds.

She is survived by her mother Mildred Chappelle; stepmother Peggy Chappelle; daughter Amanda; son Brandon (and wife, Laura); sister Linda (and husband, Julian) Guerra; brother Paul Chappelle; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dale Crabtree; father Jay Chappelle; and brother Mark Chappelle.

A joint memorial service will be held for Veronica and her husband, Dale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton.
