Marie Navrat

Mass of Christian Burial for Marie H. Navrat, 95, Marion, who passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at St. Luke Living Center, will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, at Holy Family Parish, 415 N. Cedar St. Marion.

Her family will gather with friends for visitation at 10 a.m. followed by Rosary at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest after Mass in Pilsen Cemetery.

Marie’s life began Aug. 12, 1925, in Vona, Colorado. A daughter of Henry and Dora Zubrod, she graduated from high school at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Stratton, Colorado.

Very early in life, Marie worked as a telephone switchboard operator before she was united in marriage on Sept. 22, 1947, to Daniel Navrat at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Stratton.

Marie was a faithful parishioner of the Holy Family Parish in Marion. She volunteered teaching second grade catechism at the church, preparing children for their first communion.

Marie led weekly Rosary prayers for many years before Mass and enjoyed Altar Society. She worked in the church kitchen preparing funeral dinners and always had a smile on her face.

Marie served her community as a member of the election board for several years and was an avid quilter.

Her greatest joy was her family, which includes her children Donna (and husband Robert) Cherry of Kingman, Ron (and wife Deb) Navrat of McPherson, Daniel J. (and wife Lisa) Navrat of Walton, Patricia Navrat of McPherson, and Machelle (and husband Mike) Ratzloff of Marion.

Her grandchildren include Gary (and wife Yolanda) Keen, Jessica Wells, Anjanette Montano, Melissa Chavez, Jason (and wife Celide) Navrat, Amber (and husband Matt) Powers, Ashley Ratzloff (and husband Jonathan Graham), and Samantha Ratzloff (and husband Jordan Simmonds).

She also is survived by 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Holy Family Parish, St. Mark’s Altar Society, or Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion.
