Lois Phillis

A graveside service for Lois Ilene Phillis, 95, of South Hutchinson, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, was 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson.

Visitation was 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson.

One of fourteen children, Lois was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Leoti to Ernst and Eva (Campbell) Minor.

Lois worked as a lithographer for 28 years in Canton and Hutchinson. She married Donald C. Phillis on Nov. 19, 1952, in Leoti. He preceded her in death May 24, 2014.

She also was preceded in death by 12 of her brothers and sisters: Gerald Minor, Leon Minor, Duane Minor, Joyce Farr, Vernon Minor, Gordon Minor, Kay Minor, Harold Minor, Theda Ball, Donald Minor, Larry Minor, and Charlotte Carson.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Keith Phillis of Canton, and daughter, Jeri Rae Gerek (and husband Thomas) of Onaga.

Also left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Jared Phillis (and wife Jennifer) of Hutchinson; Thomas Gerek of Quincy, Illinois; Adrienne Heppler (and husband Jason) of Walton; and Amber Phillis of McPherson.

She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sister Margaret Turner of Leoti, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, Wesley Towers, or Hospice and Homecare of Reno County and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
