Jerry Buller

Services for Gerald L. “Jerry” Buller, 82, of Wichita, who passed away Jan. 25 in Wichita, were Saturday.

Jerry was born the son of Jonas and Bertha Buller on Dec. 16, 1938, in McPherson.

He grew up in Halstead, graduating from Halstead High School in 1958.

Jerry married Johnsie Just on March 7, 1964, in Marion.

Jerry joined the Air Force in 1963 and served four years, with one of those being in Alaska during the Vietnam War.

Following his service, he and Johnsie lived and raised their family in Halstead. During this time, he worked for the Wichita Water Department and the City of Halsted. He was also a farm manager for Dekalb and worked in the transportation department of USD 440 in Halstead.

Jerry and Johnsie enjoyed traveling together, visiting all 50 states as well as Mexico, Brazil, and Liberia, West Africa.

Following retirement, they traveled 7 years in their fifth wheel, routinely stopping at some of their favorite locations.

After their travels, they bought a home in Wichita and enjoyed working part-time at Meridian Grocery in Newton.

Jerry was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Halstead and a former member of the Midian Shriners of Wichita. While a member of the Shriners, he made many trips transporting children to Shriners Hospitals.

Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church Wichita.

Survivors include his loving wife, Johnsie Buller; children Kendall (and wife, Kim) Buller, and Eric (and wife, Pam) Buller; daughter Anne (and husband, Kyle) Penner; sisters Joan (and husband, John) Unruh, Jan Stubby, Julie (and husband, Arlo) Becker; sister-in-law Carol Buller; grandchildren Kensley and Kaleb Buller, Derek (and wife, Katie) Blochlinger, Caitlin (and husband, Prescott) Evans, Caleb (and wife, Astrid) Sheafer, Jackson and William Penner, Jake (and wife, Samantha) Buller-Young, Alex, Beth, Lucy, Theo, Sekou, Peter and Ruby Buller; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant siblings Jimmy and Ruth Elizabeth; and brother Leonard Buller.

Celebration of Life service was live streamed Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Wichita.

In-person attendance was private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Halstead Masonic Lodge #46 or United Methodist Open Door, Inc.
