Jean Pierce

Wilma Jean Pierce’s life began Aug. 19, 1925, in Great Bend, Kansas. She was the daughter of Leon L. and Martha I. (Grunewald) Knight.

Jean graduated from Marion High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to William “Bud” M. Pierce on June 2, 1946, at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion.

Jean worked as a secretary for several businesses including the Farmer’s and Drover’s Bank, Marion County Probate Court, and the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

She was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Church Women United, and attended activities at the Marion Senior Center.

Jean is survived by her nieces and nephews Marty (and husband Chuck) Heigert of Alma, Jill (and husband Ron) Miller of Grapevine, Texas, Brook Beaston of Jackson, Tennessee, and Mark Kline of Istanbul, Turkey, as well as many dear friends and relatives.

Jean passed away April 8, 2021, at Marion Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, and sisters Vernie Beaston and Barbara Kline.

Her family will gather with friends on Saturday April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Valley United Methodist Church for her memorial service led by Pastor Martin Holler.

She will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery in private graveside service.
