Eldon Britton
Eldon Douglas Britton died March 16, 2019, at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita at age 77.
He was born in Florence, Kansas, on Aug. 17, 1941, to Carl E. Britton and Margymae Wolfersperger Britton of Peabody, Kansas.
Doog or Doogie, as he was called by his family and friends, was a Vietnam veteran and an avid sports fan, spending his retirement years in front of the TV watching and rooting for his favorite teams.
Eldon was raised south of Peabody on the Heath Farm where his father was employed. He attended Peabody schools, graduating in the Class of 1959 from Peabody High. After high school, he went on to college at Emporia State University and eventually graduated. He was married and divorced twice.
He is survived by his two sons, Matt and wife Kathy Britton of Lubbock, Texas, and Lance Britton of Wichita, Kansas; brother Dale and wife Linda Britton of Peabody, Kansas; sister Karyine and husband Dennis Sherman of New Strawn, Kansas; nieces Janet and husband Kevin Eck of Newton, Kansas, and Cheri and husband Darren Hopson of Topeka, Kansas; nephews Paul and wife Kerry Britton of Halstead, Kansas, and Carol and wife Shannon Sherman of Waverly, Kansas; numerous great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held later.
