Dean Earl Forsberg

Dean Earl Forsberg, 66, of Burdick, Kansas, left us on December 25, 2019, surrounded by family at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

Dean was born September 26, 1953, in Herington, Kansas, to Earl Edward and Evelyn Dorothy (Schump) Forsberg.

Dean grew up farming beside his father in Diamond Springs 5 miles east of Burdick. Farming and raising cattle was his true passion in life.

In addition to farming, when his children reached school age, Dean started driving buses for Centre USD 397 until the late 90s. At that time he went to work for Morris County driving a motor grader until 2004. Since 2004 he has worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and was preparing to retire.

He married Nanette Lynn Thomas on November 22, 1981. During the first 13 years of their 38-year marriage, they had 5 beautiful children, who have since given them 13 gorgeous grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Sierra Dawn. He is survived by his wife Nanette; children Sabrina Dunkin and husband David Sliger of Derby, Joseph Forsberg and wife Jenna, Savannah Hicks and husband Willie, and Ethan, all of Burdick; and sisters Jane Rickenbrode and family of Council Grove and Bonnie Sue Hefner and husband Keith and family of Wagoner, Oklahoma.

At his personal request, cremation took place with no viewing. Visitation was Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Sawyer Funeral Home. Funeral services were Friday, January 3, 2020.

Any contributions made in lieu of flowers will be decided upon for donation destination at a later date. They may be sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
