Beverly Goering

Beverly Ann (Benson) Goering, daughter of Schuyler and Marie (Jones) Benson, was born in Hutchinson, Kan., on May 31, 1937. She went home to be with the Lord at The Cedars of McPherson, Kan., on Monday, March 10, 2014, at the age of 76 years.

A devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, Beverly shared her Christian faith in many ways. Through her church activities and ministry to children and those experiencing troubled times, she was a steadfast source of encouragement and comfort.

She graduated from Haven High School in Haven, Kan., with the class of 1955 and attended Hutchinson Junior College.

She married John J. Goering on Aug. 17, 1957, in Hutchinson. To this union two sons and two daughters were born.

Survivors include her husband of the home; sons, John III (Jay) and wife, Shawn, of Keller, Texas, and Schuyler and wife, Melody, of Miltonvale, Kan.; two daughters, Anneliese and husband, John Homan, of Sedalia, Mo., and Kyla and husband, David Gossett, of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Matthew Homan and fiancé, Emily Kohls, of Overland Park, Kan., Ashleigh and husband, Tim Noland, of Sedalia, Mark Schmidt of Wichita, Kan., and John IV (Jayce) Goering of Keller; two great-grandchildren, Benson and Hudson Noland of Sedalia; brothers-in-law, Glen Goering and Vern Goering and wife, Holly; sister-in-law, Geneva Morgan, all of Hutchinson.

Her parents and one sister, Glenna Helzer, have preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Newton East Side United Methodist Church and the Order of Saint Luke International.

A private committal service will be held on March 12, 2014, at the Lone Star Cemetery of Pretty Prairie, Kan. A celebration of life service will be held at the Eastmoor United Methodist Church of Marion, Kan., at 2 p.m. on March 29, 2014.
