Elvina Ediger
Elvina Loewen Harms Ediger passed away July 7, 2018, just three weeks shy of her 97th birthday, to be with her Lord and Savior.
Born July 30, 1921 to John and Elizabeth Loewen, she was raised on a farm in Ebenfeld outside Hillsboro, Kansas, along with two sisters and two brothers, who all preceded her in death: Evelyn Friesen and husband Butter; Malinda Frank and husband John; Elvie Loewen and husband Ruby; and Wes Loewen and wife Louise.
Elvina was also preceded in death by husbands Leslie Harms of Lehigh and Frank Ediger of Hillsboro, as well as three children: Barbara Harms, Gary Harms, and Gregory Harms.
She is survived by her loving family, Steve and Betsy Harms of Half Moon Bay, California; Jan and Donn Halverson of Cameron Park, California; and Randy Harms of Livermore, California, as well as her grandchildren: Kelly Halverson Moulton, Daniel Halverson, Christine Harms Blomquist, and Leslie Harms; and great-grandchildren: Amy Moulton, Tommy Moulton, and Brixton Blomquist.
After attending Tabor College, Elvina taught school at Ebenfeld School and Hope Valley. She moved to Wichita during the war years to help with the war effort. After WWII, Elvina married her college sweetheart, Leslie Harms, and they moved to Bakersfield, California.
After Leslie’s death in 1965, Elvina returned to work in manufacturing to help raise her children. After several years, she procured a job in civil services for the County of Santa Clara as a revenue worker, where she worked until she retired.
Elvina met her second husband, Frank Ediger, in 1987 through mutual friends. They married and moved to Frank’s home in Hillsboro. They remained married for over 20 years until his passing. She then returned to California to be with her family.
Elvina was a very positive person and shared her love and friendship with many. Her unwavering strong faith carried her through many hard times with a smile on her face, love in her heart, and ever-abiding faith that God would see her through.
Elvina was buried with her first husband at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.
