Marion

The Warriors took third place at this year’s 18th annual Spike Fest in Marion, defeating Central Christian and Lyons during pool play but losing to Halstead.

This set Marion up to play against Moundridge, with the winner advancing into the championship game. The Warriors got off to a hot start, beating Moundridge 25-23 in the first set, but lost the next two sets, giving way to a Halstead vs. Moundridge championship game.

Halstead won the championship, while Marion went on to play in the third place match against Berean. The Warriors won two sets out of three against Berean.

Coincidentally, the Warriors will continue their season by traveling to Berean this Thursday.

Goessel

The Goessel volleyball team had little trouble on Thursday in non-league games at Goessel, winning both matches.

The Bluebirds defeated Douglass 25-11, 25-16 and Lyons 25-8, 25-12.

The Bluebirds suffered their first loss in the Wheat State League at the hands of Little River on Tuesday.

Goessel will host Rural Vista (5-4) and Wakefield (1-8) this week, and play in the Olpe Tournament on Saturday.

The Bluebirds are now 12-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.
