Money given to St. Luke tops contributions from 1973 through 2018

St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary made its highest-ever profit during 2019, bringing in $97,162 and donating $66,403 to St. Luke Hospital, St. Luke Living Center, and St. Luke Home Health.

The money given to St. Luke during 2019 exceeds the grand total of contributions from 1973 through 2018.

The store is open Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

“That’s nine hours a week to take in this money,” Mary Ann Conyers said. “Don’t you think some of the shops downtown wish they could take in this kind of money?”

The store’s gross sales were $117,444 and total outlay including shoppe expenses was $108,884.

Additionally, the shoppe donated $184 to Head Start, $80 to a Living Center resident, $78 to Marion Historical Museum, $86 to help an accident victim stranded in Marion, and $100 to Marion High School.

The annual auxiliary dinner Thursday drew 80 people. New officers installed were Elora Robinson, president; Margaret Pickering, secretary; Peggy Blackman, treasurer; Janet Herzet, vice president and membership chairman; Feebie Holdeman-Meisinger, unit chair; Margaret Pickering, unit secretary; Rose Vinduska, programs; and Mary Ann Conyers and Walter Hein, shoppe managers.
