Nearly four decades ago, Billy Graham wrote a book that touched the collective nerve of millions of readers. It took us to a place, an unseen realm, and confirmed the existence of a dimension into which few human beings are invited to look. More specifically, he used scripture to point our attention to the inhabitants of this normally invisible realm.
Angels.
In the earliest pages of Genesis, they’re placed as guardians to the Garden of Eden. They appear throughout the Bible, sometimes seen in their spiritual realm and sometimes appearing in our physical world. Balaam saw one. So did Isaiah and Elisha. An angel stepped through the veil that separates the natural world from the supernatural world and brought news to an aged priest named Zacharias, a young virgin named Mary, and her broken-hearted fiancé named Joseph. Angels ministered to Jesus after his temptation in the wilderness. They opened prison doors for Peter. And they interacted with the Apostle John in the last book of the Bible.
From the beginning of time, angels have played a role in history. And they’re not done. Christian, take courage … you are not alone.
