HOPE IN THE HEARTLAND: Get the point?

Gracepoint Church, Peabody

What’s the point of Christianity?

That probably seems like an odd — if not offensive — question, but one that needs to be answered. And I am convinced that those professing to be saved must answer the question clearly. And we must answer the question as though the answer really matters.

But let me turn up the pressure a notch or two: What’s the point of your Christianity? This takes the discussion out of some cold academic setting and drops it right into your lap. Let me put it another way: Does it make any difference to another person’s life that you’re a Christian? If not, why not?

The call of Christianity is distinct: all people are sinners and need to be reconciled to God through the Lord Jesus Christ. The promise of Christianity is certain: come to Jesus by faith and you will be saved. The life of Christianity is one of love for God and for each other. The point of Christianity is that God has brought the way of salvation through Jesus Christ … but it’s a limited-time offer.

Get the point while you have time.
