Holiday help applications available

Staff writer

Qualifying children who live in the Marion or Centre school districts could have their holidays made brighter through Marion’s Community Christmas project.

The program assists a wide range of families with holiday gifts and a family food box.

State income eligibility guidelines apply to the program, so proof of income must be included with the family’s application.

Families that have participated three consecutive years are not accepted for the following three years.

Families are asked to specify one $25 gift for each child age 18 or younger.

If the requested item is more than $25, another gift will be substituted. If clothing or shoes are requested, sizes should be specified.

Gift certificates or gift cards will not be issued.

Application forms are available at the Marion City Bulding and are due no later than Nov. 17. Applications may be dropped in the city utility drop box.

Late applications will be accepted only if the application includes a letter of explanation and is approved by the program board.

Gifts and food boxes will be available between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Marion Community Center, 203 N. 3rd St. Any gifts and food boxes not picked up during those hours will be given to other families.
