Historic mill featured at meeting in Goessel
A presentation on a historic Moundridge-area flour mill will be featured at the annual meeting of Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum of Goessel at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, one mile north of Goessel.
Goessel High School art teacher and local historian Brian Stucky will present information about the Alta Mill, which operated along the Little Arkansas River, southwest of Moundridge, 1876 through 1949. Four pieces of mill machinery are part of a permanent display in the museum’s Turkey Red Wheat Palace. Stucky is a descendant of one of the mill’s owners.
A business meeting will follow the presentation. Faspa, a traditional Low German Mennonite light lunch, will be served following the meeting.
The public is invited.
