Hillsboro police report
May 13: Officers worked a minor non-injury accident; a report was not required. Officers assisted a state agency with a background investigation. A harassment complaint was filed in the 200 block of South Adams Street.
May 14: A person reported a possible probation violation in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. A child custody dispute was checked in the 800 block of East A Street. Officers assisted Marion County Sheriff’s officers with a non-injury accident on U.S. 56. A complaint was filed for vehicles speeding. Officers checked suspicious activity. Officers assisted the fire department with a child lighting fires in the middle of Birch Street. A possible child abduction was reported in the 500 block of South Ash Street; officers discovered it was grandparents attempting to deal with an unruly child. A vandalism complaint was checked at Tabor College. A person reported that paint had been dumped on his vehicle.
May 15: A person in the 300 block of South Ash Street reported being the victim of identity theft. A person reported being raped in Hillsboro by a person known to her; the victim was taken to a medical center for a forensics examination; the case is still under investigation by the Hillsboro Police Department. A dog complaint was checked. A civil stand-by in the 300 block of East Second Street was performed.
May 16: Officers worked a non-injury accident in the 200 block of South Lincoln Street. A person reported being the victim of a scam on Craig’s list. An officer instructed a DARE class at Marion Elementary School. A motorist was assisted on D Street. A motorist was assisted at Adams and B Street. Suspicious activity was checked. A report of several suspicious persons entering room at a vacant motel in the 800 block of East D Street was checked.
May 17: Officers worked a non-injury accident at Hillsboro Middle School. Officers assisted the Federal Aviation Administration by locating a missing aircraft; the aircraft was found at Hillsboro Airport and was experiencing radio problems. A person brought in two vehicle tags found along the U.S. 56. Officers found a vehicle with a broken window at Ash and Adams Street; the investigation revealed it had been broken by something thrown from a lawn mower. A parking complaint was checked. A dog complaint was checked.
May 18: A person was fingerprinted for employment. A dog complaint was checked. A report of a injured animal was checked in the 200 block of South Jefferson. A landlord tenant dispute in the 300 block of East Second Street was mediated. A report of several people stand-in in the street blocking traffic in the 400 block of South Adams Street was checked.
May 19: A report of a disorderly person was filed at the recycling center. Officers assisted with a child custody exchange. Two parking complaints were filed. A person in the 300 block of North Adams Street reported finding a pair of brass knuckles in his yard. Officers assisted the fire department with Dumpster fire in Hillsboro Heights.
