Police report

May 23: A traffic complaint was checked in the 100 block of South Elm Street. A property dispute in the 400 block of South Birch Street was determined to be a civil matter. A curfew violation was reported in the 200 block of South Madison Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of West Grand Avenue.

May 24: Tabor College officials were contacted regarding missing identification cards being found on campus. A traffic complaint was filed in the 500 block of South Ash Street. Marion County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with a complaint. A child custody dispute was reported in the 500 block of East D Street. Traffic control was provided in the 300 block of West Third Street. A property dispute was reported in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue.

May 25: Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services received assistance with an investigation. A civil standby was provided in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Suspicious activity was checked in the 800 block of East D Street. A violation was reported of a protection from abuse order in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Assistance was provided to New Mexico authorities with a civil complaint.

May 26: A civil standby was provided in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Officers attended safety training at City Hall. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro Fire Department with a vehicle fire in the 100 block of North Wilson Street. A child custody dispute was reported in the 500 block of East Grand Avenue. An adult male was arrested at D and Cedar streets after drugs and drug paraphernalia were found during a traffic stop. The fire department received assistance with a grass fire in the 200 block of South Cedar Street that had been started by a propane torch. A court services officer received assistance with an investigation. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes.

May 27: A camper hook-up was provided at Memorial Park. A domestic disturbance was reported in the 400 block of East First Street when a former boyfriend and girlfriend argued over child custody. An emergency message was delivered in the 200 block of South Jefferson Street. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department with a protection from abuse violation. A vandalism complaint was reported in the 100 block of South Cedar Street when an individual reported that someone had spray painted profanity on the side of their vehicle. Damage was estimated at $100.

May 28: An officer provided an escort for the Hillsboro High School softball team. Hillsboro City Council packets were delivered. The fire department received assistance when a fire alarm was activated at Tabor College. A suspicious person was checked at Second and Main streets. Assistance was provided in fueling an aircraft. A civil standby was provided in the 300 block of North Birch Street. A 911 disconnect was checked at Tabor College. Assistance was provided to emergency medical services personnel with a call in the 400 block of North Ash Street. An officer recovered a bicycle that had been reported stolen a year ago; the victim found the bicycle at a garage sale.

May 29: Assistance was provided in fueling an aircraft. An individual received assistance at Hillsboro Community Hospital. A property dispute was reported in the 300 block of North Birch Street. Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks personnel received assistance with underage drinkers.

May 30: Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with a complaint. A landlord and tenant dispute was reported in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. A civil standby was provided in the 300 block of North Birch Street. The sheriff’s department received assistance with a disturbance at Marion County Fairgrounds. Assistance was provided to a sheriff’s deputy with a reckless driving complaint. A report was filed of a physical altercation between two adult males and a juvenile male, a subject reported they were standing in the street at 1:30 a.m., fighting.

May 31: A landlord and tenant dispute was reported in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Assistance was provided in fueling an aircraft. A civil standby was provided in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. An officer removed an unwanted guest from a residence in the 100 block of South Cedar Street. A motorist received assistance on U.S. 56.

June 1: Assistance was provided to a motorist who was locked out of a vehicle. A dog complaint was filed in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A landlord and tenant dispute was reported in the 300 block of South Cedar Street. Assistance was provided to Kansas Bureau of Investigation with an investigation. An officer removed an unwanted person from Tabor College following a trespass complaint. An individual reported possible child abuse.

June 2: The sheriff’s department received assistance with traffic control on a highway and with a civil process. A parking complaint was checked in the 500 block of South Main Street. A bicycle was reported stolen at Tabor College. An abandoned vehicle was reported at the sports complex. A court services officer received assistance with an investigation. A possible criminal threat was reported.

Thursday: Assistance was provided with a residential lockout in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A dog complaint was reported in the 300 block of South Adams Street. A motorist received assistance at First and Main streets.

Friday: Theft was reported in the 300 block of North Jefferson Street. The theft of a bicycle was reported and the bicycle was later recovered. Assistance was provided with a water leak in the 300 block of Willow Road. The theft of an antique rug from the historic Schaeffler House was reported; the item was valued at $150. A funeral escort was provided. A child was taken into police protective custody in the 300 block of South Washington Street because of unsafe and unsanitary living conditions. SRS received assistance with an investigation. A K-9 unit searched a vehicle during a traffic stop. Suspicious peopled were checked at Grand and Jefferson streets.

Saturday: A motorist received assistance in Hillsboro Heights. A traffic complaint was filed at Ash and D streets.
