Police Report

March 21: A traffic complaint was reported at D and Ash streets. A missing bicycle was recovered at Memorial Park. A physical altercation was reported in the 500 block of South Adams Street but was determined to be children arguing. Assistance was provided at Hillsboro Community Hospital in transporting a patient.

March 22: A child custody dispute was reported in the 300 block of North Madison Street. Violation of a dog ordinance was reported in the 500 block of South Adams Street. An attempt was made to serve an arrest warrant. A sick cat was checked in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A warning was issued to a resident in the 200 block of North Main Street regarding a chicken running at-large. An abandoned bicycle was reported in the 100 block of South Main Street. An officer taught a DARE class at Hillsboro Elementary School. Marion County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with an investigation.

March 23: Assistance was provided to Kansas Highway Patrol with a vehicle inspection. A traffic complaint was filed at Second and Jefferson streets. Suspicious activity was checked in the 300 block of South Washington Street. The sheriff’s department received assistance with a civil process. A 911 disconnect was determined to be an uninvited guest in the 300 block of North Birch Street. A dog complaint was filed at C and Adams streets.

March 24: Three forged checks were reported in Hillsboro Heights. There is a suspect in at least one of the cases. No parking signs were removed from C and Adams streets. Intruders were reported in a vacant house in the 200 block of South Main Street. A bicycle was reported stolen in the 400 block of East First Street. A noise complaint was reported in the 400 block of South Birch Street and a person was issued a citation.

Thursday: Marion and Hillsboro police officers met with Hillsboro High School officials regarding crisis training. Officers participated in firearms training. A DARE class was taught at HES. Streetlights were checked.

Friday: A commercial alarm was activated in the 800 block of East D Street. A truck driver received assistance with a load on U.S. 56 when part of the load had struck and damaged an oncoming vehicle. A report was filed of a grain truck spilling its load on U.S. 56. A dog complaint was filed B and Date streets. The sheriff’s department received assistance in looking for an injured deer on U.S. 56.

Saturday: A possible intruder was reported in the 200 block of East First Street when individuals in the residence reported hearing noises but no one was found when the house was searched.
