Police report

Officers worked on reports, conducted follow-up investigations and traffic stops, provided vehicle identification number inspections, and completed maintenance on vehicles.

Sept. 4: Officers located a water leak at Grand and Date. Officers responded to a request for a live trap at C Street and Wilson; subject wanted help catching a cat in her apartment. Subject reported a possible domestic disturbance in a moving vehicle; officers were unable to locate the vehicle. An abandoned vehicle at the aquatic center was reported. Officers addressed a parking complaint in the 400 block of S. Adams.

Sept. 5: Officers picked up an abandoned bicycle, confronted three adult females laying in the street at A Street and Adams, addressed curfew violations in Memorial Park, and responded to a commercial alarm in Hillsboro Heights.

Sept. 6: Officers assisted with a vehicle lock-out at Tabor College. Officers took a report of a possible prowler near B Street and Date; subject was identified as a bondsman looking for an absconder.

Sept. 7: Officers responded to a non-injury vehicle accident in the 700 block of S. Main and assisted an insurance investigator on an arson case. An abandoned vehicle in the 600 block of S. Main was reported. A dog complaint in the 300 block of S. Ash was checked. Officers checked suspicious activity in the 100 block of N. Main.

Sept. 8: Officers took a report of a possible domestic disturbance in the 400 block of W. Grand — subject reported a female fled into the house with a male pursuing her; the male then forced open the front door; both parties advised it was a misunderstanding. Officers assisted the electric department at the aquatic center and took a dog complaint in the 400 block of S. Cedar. A report of several adult males creating a disturbance in the 500 block of E. Grand was taken. A child custody dispute was reported.

Sept. 9: A dog complaint was made in the 200 block of S. Washington. Officers provided a funeral escort. A noise complaint was made at D Street and Date. Officers met with the city inspector regarding code violations.

Sept. 10: Officers took a complaint of trespassing in the 100 block of N. Cedar. Animal welfare concern was reported at Tabor College. Officers assisted with a vehicle lock-out at Tabor College. Several adults riding on the trunk of a car in the 600 block of E. D Street was reported.

Sept. 11: Officers responded to a domestic complaint; subject reported her boyfriend’s ex-wife was maintaining contact with him; it was determined to be a civil matter. Children were reported harassing turtles in the park ponds. Vandalism was reported in the 300 block of N. Jefferson. A subject reported someone had scratched his car, poured chemicals on his lawn, and painted graffiti on his garage; damage was estimated at $3,900. An officer responded to a verbal domestic disturbance involving an employee at Wendy’s in the 800 block of E. D Street; the argument continued at their residence in the 100 block of N. Jefferson; a 20-year-old male was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail, accused of criminal threats.

Sept. 12: A domestic disturbance in the 100 block of N. Birch was determined to be a verbal conflict. Officers attended safety training at city hall. Officers assisted the Canton Police Department. A dog complaint was made in the 100 block of S. Birch. Officers assisted with a camper hook-up in Memorial Park. An iPod that had been stolen from the high school was recovered.

Sept. 13: Dog complaints were made in the 200 block of S. Birch and in the 200 block of S. Madison. Officers assisted Newton Police with an investigation. Several people selling door-to-door without a permit were confronted. A report of possible child abuse in the 100 block of N. Cedar was taken. Officers responded to a disturbance complaint at a business in the 500 block of E. D Street; officers discovered several Tabor students had tied up one of their own in retaliation.

Sept. 14: A dog complaint was made in the 100 block of N. Birch. Several bicycles were registered at the police department. Suspicious activity was reported in the 300 block of W. Third Street; two teens in a vacant trailer; subject later reported finding a handgun at that location; the gun was discovered to be a cap gun left by the owner.

Thursday: A gas skip was reported in the 300 block of N. Ash; a suspect vehicle was located. Another gas skip was reported in the 300 block of N. Ash; the loss was $74.

Friday: Numerous parking complaints were made regarding the Arts and Crafts Fair. Officers barricaded streets and cleared them for Arts and Crafts set-up. Suspicious activity was reported at the high school. Stolen property was returned to the owner. Officers removed a dead deer from the roadway at 170th and Kanza. A subject reported the theft of Diethyl Ether from a lab at Tabor College; the loss was estimated at $50.

Saturday: Officers assisted with traffic control and security at the Arts and Crafts Fair. Officers responded to a residential alarm in the 700 block of W. A Street. A parking complaint was taken in the 100 block of N. Ash. Officers assisted Marion Police with a suicidal subject.
