Sept. 2: A person in the 400 block of North Ash Street made numerous calls regarding unknown people stalking him and planting drugs in his residence; officers determined these people did not exist. A person reported a misuse of a financial card.

Sept. 3: Officers assisted Newton Police Department with an investigation; they advised that a Hillsboro resident was in Newton making comments about wanting to shoot an unknown person; officers were unable to locate the suspect who lived in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A person was reported in the 400 block of North Ash Street displaying bizarre behavior; officers interviewed the person and transported him to a mental health facility. Officers took a non-injury hit-and-run accident report that occurred in an unknown location; the victim had been to several locations within the area before noticing the damage.

Sept. 5: A person reported that someone had forced open the door on a rental house about a month ago. Suspicious activity was reported in the 400 block of North Ash Street; a person reported someone was living in an apartment that belonged to a person who was currently out of town.

Sept. 7: Officers checked on a report of an unlicensed dog kennel operated in the 400 block of South Main Street; further investigation revealed that the owners were not in violation and the animals did not exceed the city’s limit.

Sept. 8: Officers assisted with a possible drunk driver on U.S. 56. A report of a domestic disturbance was filed in the 100 block of South Elm Street; one person was assisted by emergency medical services; officers determined the disturbance was not created by domestic violence. A probation violation in the 100 block of South Main Street was reported; an officer located a subject on probation consuming alcohol.

Sept. 10: A check fraud complaint was filed in the 100 block of West D Street.

Sept. 11: A person reported identity theft; the person discovered another name associated with their social security number. A person reported a bicycle stolen in the 200 block of South Adams Street. A stalking complaint was filed in the 200 block of West B Street.

Sept. 14: A forgery complaint was filed in the 100 block of West D Street. A harassment complaint was filed in the 500 block of East First Street. A person in the 400 block of South Main Street reported that someone had placed a dead animal on their front porch. A person reported vehicle damage at the car wash in the 400 block of South Cedar Street.
