Police report

Hillsboro police released the following report:

Sept. 12: An officer attended K-9 training. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro Fire Department with a vehicle fire in the 600 block of North Ash Street. Missing property was returned to the owner. Sheriff’s deputies received assistance in pursuing a vehicle. A loitering complaint was reported in the 500 block of East D Street.

Sept. 13: City Hall received assistance with a peddler’s permit. A suspicious person was reported near Hillsboro Elementary School. An individual was fingerprinted for employment. A landlord and tenant dispute was reported in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A dispute over money in the 200 block of South Ash Street was determined to be a civil matter. A violation of protection from abuse order was reported in the 500 block of West Grand Avenue when an individual reported being contacted by a person who was restrained from contacting her.

Sept. 14: A funeral escort was provided. Officers targeted seat belt and J-turn violations in the downtown area. Complaints were taken of individuals selling products door-to-door; the subjects had received permits. A property dispute in the 400 block of South Ash Street was determined to be a civil matter. A report was made of an intoxicated person creating problems on Tabor College grounds; the subject became belligerent and hostile with law enforcement and was arrested and accused of trespassing and disorderly conduct. A domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North Ash Street resulted in one person being treated and released at Hillsboro Community Hospital because of injuries sustained when her hand went through a door window. Additional complaints were made of salesmen in the residential district. The sheriff’s office received assistance with a civil process. An abandoned bicycle was picked up. A civil stand-by was provided in the 200 block of North Ash Street.

Sept. 15: A domestic disturbance was reported in the 200 block of North Ash Street and was determined to be a civil matter. An individual reported a financial loss from bank accounts from an unauthorized debit withdrawal. Incidents caused a disturbance in the 200 block of North Ash Street. A civil stand-by was provided in the 200 block of North Ash Street. A bicycle was reported stolen in the 300 block of North Birch Street. An individual turned in drug paraphernalia found in a vacant residence. A suspicious vehicle was reported in Hillsboro Heights. Debris was removed from U.S. 56. Assistance was provided when a carbon monoxide alarm was activated in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street. A domestic disturbance was investigated in the 300 block of South Washington Street, when a physical confrontation occurred between a mother and daughter.

Thursday: An unruly student was reported at Hillsboro Middle School. A motorist received assistance on D Street. A civil process was served in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A preliminary breath test was administered for child custody purposes. A strange odor was reported in the 400 block of South Ash Street.

Friday: Several camper hook ups were provided in Memorial Park. An individual reported their concerns about an elderly driver. Two theft complaints were reported in the 500 block of North Ash Street when the businesses reported used batteries were stolen during the night; the loss was estimated at $400. Suspicious items were found in the alley of the 100 block of North Main Street. Officers cleared downtown streets and set up barricades for Arts and Crafts Fair. A dog complaint was reported in the 200 block of East Grand Avenue. City Council packets were delivered. Traffic control was provided for Hillsboro High School homecoming pep rally. A parking complaint was checked in the 100 block of East First Street.

Saturday: Officers provided security for the annual Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair. Assistance was provided with a vehicle lock-out at city hall. A reckless driving complaint was filed on Indigo Road. A criminal threat complaint was reported in the 300 block of North Ash Street. A suspicious person walking on Indigo Road received assistance.
