Police report

Hillsboro police released the following reports:

Aug. 22: A civil standby was provided in the 300 block of South Ash Street. Harassment was reported in the 400 block of South Birch Street. The sheriff’s department received assistance with a hit-and-run accident in Lehigh.

Aug. 23: Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department with a vandalism report. Suspicious activity was reported at a downtown business. Dog complaints were reported in the 100 block of North Main Street and the 200 block of North Washington Street. A commercial fire alarm was activated on Willow Road. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes.

Aug. 24: Several juveniles argued in the 300 block of North Main Street and threatened each other. Evidence was returned to the owner. A preliminary breath test was performed on an individual for child custody purposes. An individual received assistance with issues related to vehicle registration. A disturbance was reported in the 200 block of North Washington Street. A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 200 block of South Cedar Street.

Aug. 25: Several people were stopped and issued warnings for not following new traffic signs at Hillsboro Elementary School. Farm equipment was reportedly being stored at Memorial Park. Parking warnings were issued near C and Adams streets. A reckless driver was reported on C Street. A dog complaint was checked in the 300 block of South Birch Street. Parking warnings were issued for violations in the 400 block of South Adams Street. Assistance was provided to a trooper with a possibly combative subject and to Kansas Bureau of Investigation with an investigation. A suspicious person was checked in the 100 block of South Adams Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes.

Aug. 26: The electric department received assistance with reading a meter around loose dogs. Parking warnings were issued for violations at Adams and C streets. Personnel from department of social and rehabilitative services received assistance with an investigation. A disorderly person, yelling from a moving vehicle, was reported.

Aug. 27: Vandalism was reported at Hillsboro High School, when someone reported a mirror was broken on a vehicle. Warnings were issued to those in violation of new traffic signs at HES. Multiple camper hook-ups were provided at Memorial Park. A noise complaint was checked at Arbor Court. Citations were issued for loud vehicle music.

Aug. 28: Stolen property was recovered. Traffic control was provided for a children’s triathlon. A noise complaint was checked in the 400 block of North Ash Street. An abandoned bicycle was recovered in the 200 block of South Washington Street. A dog in the 200 block of West Grand Avenue reportedly bit someone.
