Hillsboro library reopens with changes

Staff writer

Hillsboro Public Library, which earlier closed its doors to patrons because of COVID-19 concerns, is now allowing patrons limited access.

Librarian Jeanie Bartel said doors will remain locked. Patrons will knock on the door, then wait to be admitted.

One visitor or family group will be allowed at a time.

Visitors must wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines, both while waiting in the hallway and inside the library.

“We are defining a family group as all those who reside in the same household,” Bartel said.

Patrons will be allowed inside the library for up to 15 minutes.

Visitors may select items for checkout, use the computer for business, government, employment or official use, and use the library’s copy or printing services.

Patrons may check items out for 2 to 8 weeks and no fines will be collected at this time.

“We will still offer touchless pickup for anyone who requests it,” Bartel said.

To request items, call (620) 947-3827 or email the library at hillsboropubliclib@gmail.com.
