Police report

Oct. 24: A non-injury traffic accident was reported at Tabor College. The sheriff’s office received assistance in locating stolen equipment. An abandoned bicycle was recovered. Officers provided a K-9 demonstration and a drug awareness class at Tabor College.

Oct. 25: A theft was reported in the 400 block of South Ash Street when a ceramic frog, valued at $5, was taken from a yard. A property dispute in the 300 block of North Main Street was determined to be a civil matter. An abandoned bicycle was recovered downtown. Traffic control was provided at Main and A streets. A child custody dispute was investigated in the 300 block of South Ash Street; a welfare check was made for children residing at the residence.

Oct. 26: Assistance was provided to Newton police with an investigation. A camper hook-up was provided in Memorial Park. A protection from abuse order was allegedly violated in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Suspicious activity was checked in the 200 block of North Main Street.

Oct. 27: A child custody dispute was reported in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Social and Rehabilitation Services received assistance with an investigation in the 200 block of North Ash Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Assistance was provided to SRS with an investigation in the 200 block of North Main Street. A traffic complaint was filed on D Street. A noise complaint was checked at Grand and Lincoln streets and was determined to be coming from a house being remodeled.

Thursday: An individual reported the possibility of locating a firearm that was stolen; however, officers determined the gun in question was not the one previously stolen. Walton police received assistance with an investigation in the 300 block of North Madison Street. The sheriff’s office received assistance with a missing person. A report of a loud, verbal confrontation between several people in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue was checked. Three people were located who were attempting to gain entry into the former AMPI building.

Friday: Assistance was provided to McPherson County sheriff’s office with an investigation. A property dispute at Cedar and Third streets occurred when someone took a pair of speakers from another person. The Hillsboro High School volleyball team received a police escort. A protect-from-abuse violation was investigated in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. Officers provided security for “Trick or Treat Main Street.” A property dispute in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue was checked. A stray dog was located and its owner later claimed it. Property was recovered in the 100 block of South Birch Street. An individual reported the theft of a laptop computer from his dorm room at Tabor College. Someone had forced entry into an apartment in the 300 block of North Ash Street and taken wires for a stereo.

Saturday: A commercial alarm was activated in the 100 block of South Main Street. A traffic complaint was checked at the sports complex. Trespassing was reported at Tabor College when several people were on the roof of the music building. A suspicious person was reported in the alley in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street. A civil stand-by was provided in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. A harassment complaint was filed in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. A possible domestic disturbance was reported in Willow Glen but an officer was unable to locate any disturbance. Emergency medical services received assistance with a call at Salem Home. A child custody dispute was reported in the 200 block of North Washington Street. An officer cited an individual for littering from his car.
