Herman Schambron

Herman G. Schambron, 83, of Peabody, died April 12 at Legacy Park Care Home, Peabody.

Born Jan. 21, 1927, in Strong City, to Lewis and Sophia (Lawrence) Schambron, he was a farmer, worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and helped to build Marion Reservoir.

Later he was employed by Marion County as a road maintainer.

He married Vera Mae Soyez Dec. 16, 1952. They made their home near Elmdale and later in Florence.

He was a member of First Christian Church of Florence.

His wife, Vera Mae, and a son, Herman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Frank of Hixson, Tenn., and Herbert of Farmington, N.M.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Friday afternoon at First Christian Church of Florence with the Rev. Peter Banning officiating.

Interment was at Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Marion 66861.
