Henrietta Waner

Former cook Henrietta Mary Waner, 81, died July 27 at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

A funeral Mass was Friday at Holy Family Parish, Marion. Interment was at Marion Cemetery.

Henrietta was born Nov. 7, 1933, to Joseph and Mary Stika, rural Marion. She grew up and attended school in the Youngtown community east of Marion.

She married Vernon Waner Nov. 14, 1951, in Pilsen.

She attended St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Marion, and was active in the Altar Society.

She was a cook at Marion Senior Center, and also Owl Car Café. After she retired in 2001, she volunteered at the St. Luke Auxiliary Shop.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; children, David Waner of Marion, Carol Leppke of Hillsboro, Darrell Waner of Derby, Mike Waner of McPherson, and Steve Waner of Marion; brother, Louis Stika; sister, Victoria Smolik; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established in care of Zeiner Funeral Home.
