Organizers hope survey results will spark discussion, action

Results of the first county health needs assessment in eight years will be shared at a meeting Sept. 16 in Hillsboro.
About 250 county residents responded to an online survey asking what was missing from health care here, St. Luke Hospital spokesman Roger Schroeder said.
Survey results, community health indicators, feedback, and opinions on key community health needs will be discussed.
The county’s last health needs assessment, done in 2013, identified need for promotion of health, wellness, and chronic disease prevention; improvement of communication and collaboration between health care providers; and enhanced access to health resources for all county citizens.
An annual county health fair was developed to help address those needs.
Next month’s meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at Tabor College’s Shari Flaming Center for the Arts building. Lunch will be available beginning at 11:15 a.m.
The meeting will be socially distanced. Reservations are needed.
No decision has been made regarding whether to also offer the session virtually.
