Harvey Gaines, 92, of Peabody, died April 10.

Services were held Friday at Peabody Methodist Church, with inurnment following at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 19, 1923, in rural Peabody to Joseph M. and Ernestina (Weber) Gaines.

He graduated from Peabody High School in 1941, and farmed with his father in the Summit community.

He married Gwendolyn C. Wilcox on April 8, 1945, at the Peabody Methodist Church.

He became sexton of Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody after retiring from farming and moving to town.

He is survived by wife, Gwen; daughter, Marcia Cooper; son, David Gaines; sisters, Marjorie Gray and Mary Jane Olson; brother, Joseph Gaines; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Gaines, and sister, Reeta Gillet.
