Harvey County extends burn ban

Harvey County Commissioners have extended a countywide burn ban until Monday

Despite some light rain during the past week, cooler temperatures, and calmer winds, commissioners are concerned that conditions are still favorable to fires getting out of control.

They remind that prescribed burning of fence rows, fields, and wild lands is prohibited unless such burning is necessary for crop survival and has been specifically approved in writing by the fire chief in the jurisdiction where the burn will take place.

The commissioners will review the ban at the next meeting Monday. For more information, contact Lon Buller at Harvey County Emergency Management, (316) 284-6910.
